Gunnar Hansson
Principal Software Architect
I have been designing and building software since 1996 — nearly three decades of solving problems, evolving systems, and learning what makes code survive contact with reality.
I am the founder and co-owner of Avidity, a software consultancy established in 2012 with offices in Stockholm, Berlin, and Porto Alegre. After serving as CEO until 2025, I now focus primarily on technical leadership, software architecture, and long-term client relationships, supporting teams as they navigate complex technical challenges.
What I work with
My work today centers on helping organizations build and maintain complex, long-lived systems through architectural responsibility, technical problem-solving, code reviews, and mentoring.
- Software architecture and technical direction
- Complex, business-critical systems
- Mentoring engineers and raising technical seniority
- System and architecture reviews
- Bridging business context and technical constraints
Background
I have worked across domains including financial systems and market data, CRM platforms, medical data systems, content management systems, and education technology. While the industries vary, the fundamentals of building reliable and maintainable systems remain largely the same.
I favor pragmatism over hype, with a strong emphasis on clarity, maintainability, and long-term sustainability — informed by decades of seeing systems evolve in real-world environments.
